19 July, 2003 - James Love snared his second win of he 2003 Super Cheap Auto Junior Blitz Series tonight when he dominated proceedings in the ARC Junior Sportsman class under lights at Queensland's Willowbank Karting Raceway.
The Victorian pilot was undefeated throughout the day's proceedings claiming all three heat races, Pre-Final and Final. Starting from pole in the Final the closest the rest of the field would get to the Jayair supported driver was prior to the lights turning green.
Behind Love it was Kristian Lindbom, Ashely Walsh, Trent James and Ben Small who were battling it out for the minor spots. Unfortunately for Walsh it all turned pear shaped after making contact with Small forcing him wide and spinning out of the event.
As Love cleared off into the distance James moved past Lindbom into second. With a handful of laps remaining it became a four-way battle for the minor sports when Damien Assaillit joined the battle.
While Love crossed the line for a comfortable victory Lindbom and James came together on the final lap forcing them both out of the event and elevating Small and Assaillit onto the podium.
Another benefit to Love was the fact that the Championship leader Jordie Lindstrom failed to finish meaning that Love will close the gap in the ARC Junior Sportsman point score.
In ARC Junior National Light Series leader, Brent reading got the better of a race long battle with Robert Munnerley to claim the victory. Behind Munnerley came Mark Dorbolo closely followed by Steel Guiliana and Bodine Antrobus.
Craig Schmidt took out the ARC Junior National Heavy class ahead of Luke Oxford and Mark Dorbolo while Championship leader Jonathan Taylor finished down the order in ninth.
Making it back-to back victories in the Sniper Rookies class was Max Carter. Although able to match the pace of Carter during the heat races Kyle Ensbey was forced to settle for second in the final. Behind Ensbey it was Brock Hallett who got the better of a three-way battle with Ryan Deckert and Chaz Mostert for third.
A three-way battle for the lead in the Comer Midgets class turned into an easy victory for Nicholas Foster when Ben Lincoln and James Kovacic came together on the final lap. Matthew Brabham then went on to claim second ahead of Christopher Hays.
The next round of the Super Cheap Auto Junior Blitz Series will be held at Sydney's Oran Park on August 8/9.
