Brooklyn, MI - Winston Cup driver Dale Jarrett will sit out round 3 due to injuries sustained at Charlotte. Dave Marcis chosen to sub for Jarrett.

Jarrett suffered injuries to his rib cage during qualifying and was recently re-examined and found to have a anterior tear in the right side. "This type of injury is extremely painful and is irritated under racing conditions," stated Jay Signore, IROC series President.

IROC test driver and former Winston Cup driver, Marcis, will sit in for Jarrett who is currently fourth in the standing. Points earned by Marcis will be awarded to Jarrett.

Marcis is the second person to sub this weekend as IRL driver, Al Unser Jr., will sit in for the injured Scott Goodyear. Goodyear was injured during the Indy500 driving for Cheever Indy Racing.

The third race of the series will take place on Saturday, June 9 at Michigan International Speedway.

Jarrett will compete in the Kmart400 on Sunday.

Signore went on to say "We look forward to Jarrett's return for the final race at Indianapolis."
