ABC Sports will televise the 2000 season opener True Value IROC series race at Daytona this Sunday, March 12, at 5:00 p.m. (Eastern Time) immediately following the NASCAR Winston Cup Race coverage from Atlanta Motorspeedway.

In the first event of the four-race series, which originally took place on February 18th at Daytona International Speedway, Eddie Cheever, Jr., after a battle for the lead, finished eleventh overall. Dale Earnhardt went on to win the 40-lap, 100-mile classic drafting war just .124-second in front of former Indy Racing driver and NASCAR star, Tony Stewart.

The True Value International Race of Champions is an auto racing series designed to eliminate the mechanical unfair advantage by inviting twelve championship caliber drivers to compete in equally and identically prepared Pontiac Firebird Trans Ams. This season's participants include Eddie Cheever, Jr., Dale Earnhardt, Dale Earnhardt, Jr., Tony Stewart, Jeff Burton, Mark Martin, Rusty Wallace, Bobby Labonte, Dale Jarrett, Greg Ray, Jeff Gordon, and Mark Dismore. At the end of the four race series, the points awarded are tallied and an IROC champion is crowned.

Round Two of IROC's 4-race series will take place Saturday, April 15th on the 2.66-mile high-banked tri-oval of the Talladega Superspeedway.
