PPG-Dayton Indy Lights Championship - Qualifying

Brazil's Cristiano da Matta won his third pole position of the season with a fast lap of 1:10.441 (92.049 mph). Da Matta will share the front row with Philipp Peter after the Austrian clocked a lap of 1:10.743 (91.701 mph). Irishman Derek Higgins rounds out the top-three, qualifying in 1:11.189 (91.126 mph).

Team KOOL Green's Naoki Hattori, meanwhile, will start from the 12th position on the grid. Hattori suffered from a lack of green-flag laps due to three red flags that interrupted the 30-minute session. Hattori's best lap, 1:11.946 (90.168 mph), was set on the 12th of only 13 laps and just after putting on fresh tires. He was on his fastest lap when Guy Smith's accident brought out the third red flag and ended the session with four minutes remaining.

NAOKI HATTORI, #27 TEAM KOOL GREEN LOLA: (12th with a lap-time of 1:11.946 seconds at 90.168 mph)

"I'm very disappointed. The changes we made to the car after this morning's session had helped and we had just put new tires on the car. We were going quicker than we had all weekend. Then came the accident, red flag and the end of the session. We were very unlucky. I think we had a top-five car. It will be very difficult to pass, but I will have to push very hard and take every opportunity to move up."
