Team Moore Racing today announced that Alfonso “Picho” Toledano has signed with the team for the remainder of the 2015 season of Indy Lights Presented by Cooper Tires beginning with the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course event on May 7-9.

“I’m really happy to finally close a deal to race in the Indy Lights program,” said Toledano. “Many years ago I dreamed of it and wanted to be in the series after a personal experience with the IndyCar Medical staff. They saved my life after a huge racing accident. Coming to Indianapolis feels like home and like my biggest achievement in life where I plan to continue and consolidate my racing career.

I think IndyCar needs a Mexican driver again and we will work day and night until we make it there

“Some months ago I met Enric Ramon, Founder of Casa Don Ramon and a beverage company. During a brief chat we realized that we wanted the same thing – to represent Mexico in a great way around the world and principally in the U.S. Having the backing of a strong tequila brand, 100% Mexican, I know we can make our way to IndyCar in the next few years. At the moment we are going to focus on the Indy Lights program, working with real marketing to achieve the goals of my sponsors and mine as a race car driver. I hope that with our work on and off the track more teams can do the same in order to make Indy Lights even better.

“I’m really proud of joining Team Moore Racing. I know that we can achieve a lot of great things together. I know that together we can create a strong program to work on and off the track, making our sponsors proud and all the people that support us.

Sponsor Enric Ramon added: "We know Picho’s trajectory. We know that he is a great Mexican with an enthusiasm for all Mexican things like Casa Don Ramón . We are regularly looking for successful Mexican people committed to Mexico, people who want to give their all for their country and we believe that Picho is a great example and is fighting hard in the U.S. to give some sporting satisfaction to Mexico. Therefore Casa Don Ramón decided to give all their support.

“Casa Don Ramón has decided to combine the best projects. I think Picho is a young boy who has a lot of mental maturity. I think it will allow us to achieve a long-term project advertising our products within this wonderful world of racing in the Indy Lights and IndyCar arena.”

“Everyone at Team Moore Racing is excited to have Picho on board and to be moving forward together at our first race of the season at Indianapolis Motor Speedway on the road course,” said TMR owner Mark Moore. “Picho is an exceptional young man who has fought hard after a huge set back early in his career. Many young drivers today don’t possess the spirit that this young driver has. He truly wants to race and win and has overcome huge obstacles to reach this point in his career. I would like to thank Enric Ramon for supporting such a fine young man and we will all work together to reach our goals both on track and off. We will do our best to market and promote his fine beverage products. This is truly a huge step in our sport and we are very proud to be a part of it.”
