Matos 3rd, Luyendyk 8th at Milwaukee
WEST ALLIS, Wis. (June 1, 2008) Andretti Green Racing/AFS Racing drivers Raphael Matos and Arie Luyendyk Jr. both had clean races at Sunday's running of the Milwaukee 100.
Matos, who started seventh, finished third. Luyendyk Jr. struggled with the handling of his Targus/AGR/AFS car and managed an eighth-place finish.
Bobby Wilson won the race and Jeff Simmons finished second.
The next race on the 2008 Firestone Indy Lights schedule is the Jeld-Wen 100 from Iowa Speedway on June 22.
Raphael Matos, #27 AFS Racing/Andretti Green Racing Dallara/Honda/Firestone:
"Today was good and I am happy for the AFS/AGR team. They deserve better results than we've had in the past two races. We improved quite a lot from qualifying and I think the car was quite good in the end. This place is so difficult in traffic. It's very difficult to pass. Once I was in third, I just wanted to finish and collect points, which is good for the championship. Now we just have to work harder and harder trying to maximize our car to the ovals and then we'll be there in the end fighting for the championship."
Arie Luyendyk Jr., #26 Targus/Andretti Green Racing/AFS Racing Dallara/Honda/Firestone:
"We were a little conservative today on the setup and because of that, we had a little bit of understeer. It's just so hard to pass here. The Targus/AGR/AFS car was so much quicker than the lapped cars but they didn't yield and I lost positions that way and it was the most frustrating part of my day. It was a decent race and I'm not going to complain about eighth but starting from fifth, I definitely had high expectations. Milwaukee is a tough place and we just didn't have the car underneath us today."
