SERIES: As the top development series of the CART FedEx Championship Series, the Dayton Indy Lights Championship is internationally recognized as a final step before reaching the highest levels of North American motorsports. A "spec" series," Indy Lights emphasizes driver skill and team preparation through the use of identical Lola T97/20 open-wheel, single-seat race cars. Indy Lights cars are only about 10 percent smaller than the Champ Cars they resemble and can reach a top speed that exceeds 190 mph.

THIS RACE: Mid-Ohio is the seventh of 12 scheduled races in the 2000 Dayton Indy Lights Championship. An international field of 18 drivers representing seven different countries have entered this year's race.

HISTORY: This will be the 10th time an Indy Lights race has been held at Mid-Ohio, and the first Indy Lights race at the famed road course since 1994.
