Long Beach: AFS/Andretti Autosport qualifying report

CHARLIE KIMBALL, ...

CHARLIE KIMBALL, #26 TEAM LEVEMIR® FLEXPEN® CAR

* Will start tomorrow's race in P3, after qualifying at 1:14.9094

"To be honest, I'm quite disappointed with third. It's not where we should be; it's not where the car is. If we hadn't gone yellow at the end, the #26 Levemir® FlexPen® car was going to be on the front row for sure. I was comfortable, I was pushing and I was happy. We've got race pace, and we went really quick this morning on older tires. I think at least here we can pass, and I can move up from P3 to P1 during the race tomorrow."

MARTIN PLOWMAN, #27 TEAM AFS RACING/ANDRETTI AUTOSPORT CAR

* Finished qualifications in P5 with a time of 1:15.4126

"It just wasn't my day. We got in there and got into a nice rhythm. We got into my first new set of tires and put in a really good time in the #27 AFS Racing/Andretti Autosport car. Then I just made a mistake and hit the wall really hard. We bent all the suspension. The guys did a really good job of trying to straighten it. In the meantime, I got down to P4. The next lap, we improved even with a damaged car. After that, we were just fighting traffic. Looking at that second time, it should have been pole. It was just one of those days. We'll get them tomorrow."
