WEEPERS HALT TRACK ACTIVITY AT KENTUCKY SPEEDWAY ON FRIDAY
SPARTA, Ky. -- With sunny skies and high temperatures at the Kentucky Speedway on Friday, optimism was high for an exciting day of track activity. However, water rising from beneath the track surface pooled in areas of the 1.5-mile oval, making it impossible for cars to take to the track.
As a result, after a long wait, track activity was finally called off in the early evening hours.
Qualifying was cancelled completely, leaving the starting field to be set by entrant point standings. Thus, Wade Cunningham will start fourth, James Hinchcliffe will be fifth, Ana Beatriz will hold the 10th spot, and Gustavo Yacaman will be 12th.
The two practice sessions scheduled to take part on Friday will be made up on Saturday. The first session starts at 11:30 a.m. and will last 45 minutes. The second session will be at 2:15 p.m. and will last 30 minutes. The race itself will start at 5 p.m. All times listed are in EDT. All sessions can be seen live via streaming video on indycar.com.
The tape-delayed broadcast of the Kentucky 100 can be seen on VERSUS HD on Monday, August 3rd, at 4 p.m. EDT.
