Troy Hanson passes Indy Racing League Rookie Test
Troy Hanson is the newest addition to the growing list of rookies in the Indy Pro Series, the official development series for the Indy Racing League. The Hollywood, California resident successfully passed his rookie test and has been approved for competition.
He turned his first laps on the Homestead-Miami Speedway road course, then traveled north to the Nashville Superspeedway to tackle the 1.33-mile oval. "It was a blast to finally get behind the wheel," Hanson said, "I was very comfortable in the car and got up to speed quickly. We ran a little over 100 miles and also did a few practice restarts."
Hanson set a quick lap of 27.22 seconds on the 1.33-mile Nashville oval, at 171.93 mph.
Team owner Michael Crawford added, "Troy is going to make a great addition to the Indy Pro Series. He's quick, enthusiastic and has a ton of charisma. Nashville is a tricky place to make an oval debut, but Troy took it in stride. Troy proved to be smooth and consistent as he acclimated to the 1.33-mile concrete oval. He turned some very quick laps as he put the Hollywood Poker / Dallara through its paces. The team was pleased with his talent level and look forward to working with him this season."
Hanson is a former driver for Team Lexus, the factory Lexus race team, in the Grand American Cup Series. He has also raced for TC Kline BMW and most recently with SigalSport Porsche, driving the #04 Centrix Financial Porsche GT3 in the Rolex Sports Car Series. You may also recognize Troy from TV where he hosted the motorsports and celebrity segments from SPIKE TV's - "Super2NRtv."
"I want to thank Hollywood Poker, Michael Crawford and the team, as well as Butch Meyer for making all this come together." Hanson said, "I am really looking forward to racing in the IPS this year and I think we have everything it takes to put forth a competitive effort."
You can catch Troy Hanson driving the #9 Hollywood Poker / Michael Crawford Motorsports entry and the rest of the Indy Pro Series field in the Miami 100 on Sunday, March 26th at the Homestead-Miami Speedway.
