Beardsley ginishes seventh in Infiniti Pro Series debut.

LEBANON, Tenn. - July 20, 2002 - In his first Infiniti Pro Series race, Breckenridge, Colorado resident Matt Beardsley finished seventh at the 1.3-mile Nashville Superspeedway, after starting the race in sixth position. With the team taking delivery of the Alpine Bank/Old Republic/Land Title Dallara-Infiniti race car shortly before the race, the first time the car turned a wheel was in the second practice session.

"We probably had fewer laps during the weekend than any of the other cars," said Beardsley. "The team was disappointed with the result," added the 23-year old driver. "But in perspective it's not a bad result."

Beardsley dropped to the back of the field at the start when he was caught in the wrong gear but soon made his way back up to seventh place. The car had a push going through Turns 3 and 4 during practice and qualifying and in an effort to cure the problem the team made some changes before the race.

"Unfortunately we went the wrong way," commented Beardsley. "For most of the race I had to drive conservatively."

Beardsley is a two-time winner (1999, 2000) of the Formula Mazda Red Line Oval Series Championship and also won the SCCA Formula Mazda National Championship title in 2000. He was a member of the U.S. Ski Team for six years and participates in Skier X events in X Games competition.

Earlier this year, Beardsley passed his IRL rookie test, driving a Galles Racing car at Texas Motor Speedway, running an average speed of 210 mph.

The Indy Racing Infiniti Pro Series is a development series for the Indy Racing League, with a number of the young drivers in the series expected to move up to the IRL.
