Crown Point, IN- Indiana's native son, Logan Gomez, got the chance of a lifetime during the Formula 1 weekend at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. He was able to drive in the Indy Pro Series with Jim Guthrie Racing. Gomez was following up his best performance of the year with a fourth place in the Star-Mazda race at the Canadian Formula 1 weekend in Montreal with Velocity Motorsports. Prior to the Montreal event, Gomez was able to take part in a one day test to get his first taste of the IPS car and the Indy F1 circuit. Despite limited testing time and racing with some of the top IPS formula car drivers, Gomez was able to get a top ten finish in only his sixth professional car race at the age of seventeen.

Logan Gomez quotes:

"I am pleased with my finish at Indianapolis. Before the race weekend I had set my goal to finish in the top 10 of the field and I achieved that. The race could have gone a little better but I am happy to have been given the opportunity to compete in the Indy Pro Series at Indianapolis. From this event alone, I have gained a tremendous amount of knowledge from both the team, Guthrie Racing, and from other competitors like my teammate, Raphael Matos, and will focus and apply what I have learned to this year in the Star Mazda series. I feel that I have set a good benchmark for the rest of the year and I have uncovered some of my strengths and a few weaknesses that I need to work on.

The Indy Pro Series did a great job putting on a very professional display of racing for both the fans and the competitors. The autograph session they organized was great; I really got to talk to many of the fans who were there, that was one of the best parts of the racing weekend."

Jim Guthrie quotes:

"I am very impressed with Logan's approach to the race event. He showed maturity for such a young diver. He was very methodical and adapted well in such a short time in the car. He also was good at learning the new Firestone compound vs. the rubber that is used in the Star-Mazda Series. For the team, we were pleased with the outcome of the event."

Logan will continue his Star-Mazda Championship quest this weekend at the new Miller Motorsports Park outside of Salt Lake City, Utah. He and the Velocity Motorsports team continue to make great strides towards their first win of the season.
