SPARTA, Mich. -- Vision Racing's qualifying session at Kentucky Speedway for the Menards Infiniti Pro Series race, The Bluegrass 100, proved to be bittersweet for both drivers. Each ran their best times of the day and held the provisional pole for part of the session, which made for a promising qualification run for the team. However, in the closing stages of qualifying both cars were knocked off the two top spots.

Jay Drake, Vision Racing driver of the #20 Dallara/Infiniti/Firestone will start in 3rd position tomorrow after recording his top speed of the day at 185.710 mph. Next to Drake, on the outside of row two, teammate Nick Bussell will start in 4th position after recording a 185.561 mph qualifying average in the #9 Dallara/Infiniti/Firestone.

Sam Schmidt Motorsports drivers, Travis Gregg and Jaime Camara will start in the top two spots, respectively, ahead of Drake and Bussell as 67-lap/100-mile event gets underway at 3:00p.m. EDT.

On qualifying:
"We ran very well. It was the best we had run all day long. As it turns out, it just wasn't quite good enough. Our car was fine and it was the best we ran all day so I'm looking forward to the race."

Nick Bussell, #9 Dallara/Toyota/Firestone:

On qualifying:
"The car has been good since we got here. It ran well and everything was solid. We were able to qualify towards the front so that was good. Hopefully we'll have a good final warm-up tomorrow and have a good car to race with because I think all the cars are going to be very close."
