Mutoh Collects Another Podium

Hideki Finishes Third Place in Close Iowa 100

NEWTON, Iowa. (June 23, 2007) -- Super Aguri Panther Racing driver Hideki Mutoh drove his way through the field Saturday at Iowa Speedway to collect a podium finish in the Iowa 100.

Mutoh, who is currently second in the point standings behind race winner Alex Lloyd, recorded a third place finish Saturday after starting in the eighth position. This is the second straight race where Mutoh started eighth and climbed to a podium finish.

Hideki moved up two positions in the first lap of the race, and then moved passed a block from Jonathan Klein and into fourth position by Lap 36. After a lengthy battle with Sean Guthrie, Mutoh was able to most past him on Lap 60 and into the third position. While he was able to race closely with Lloyd and second place finisher Wade Cunningham, Hideki wasn't able to advance into the top two spots.

For Mutoh, this is his fifth podium result in just eight career starts. He has only one finish outside of the Top Five this season, and was the winner of race one last weekend in the Liberty Challenge at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Hideki Mutoh:

"Because of my mistake in the qualifying we had to start from the 8th position so it was bit tough but I was able to pass few cars and finished the 3rd. Since our goal was to move up to the front, we couldn't set the tire pressure high so it was tough after the last restart and the gap got bigger but I did my best today. I enjoyed racing at Iowa Speedway, it is a fun track."
