Another Andretti is set to make his open-wheel season debut in the Indy Racing League.
Adam Andretti, the younger brother of veteran racer John Andretti and nephew of 1969 Indianapolis 500 winner Mario Andretti, has signed to drive for the new FuZion Autosport team.
He'll be among the competitors when the green flag waves for the Indy Pro Series opener at Homestead-Miami Speedway on March 29th, 2008.
Andretti passed his Indy Pro Series rookie test at Chicagoland Speedway on August 30th. He went on to compete in the season-ending Chicagoland 100 for SpeedWorks Racing, finishing eighteenth out of twenty-two competitors.
Andretti (28) started in karting before moving up to the USA Formula 3, finishing third in the championship hunt. He then made his own move into NASCAR running for two years in the former Southwest series. Since then, he has had one-off rides including the Chicagoland event.
The FuZion Autosports Team (based in Brownsburg, Indiana) is headed by Indy Pro Series familiar Dave McMillan. He is joined by David Hunt of Terre Haute and California businessman Preston Countryman.
"I recently relocated back to Brownsburg where I was raised and attended high school," said Andretti, "so everything feels like the right fit."
"Most of all it is an honor to drive for a well respected group of owners who have the talent needed for the team to succeed. I can't wait to start testing and get on with the season."
