Yacamán, Cape Motorsports with Wayne Taylor Racing Headed to Iowa
NEWTON, Iowa (June 16, 2010) -- No. 10 Cape Motorsports with Wayne Taylor Racing driver Gustavo Yacamán is ready for Iowa Speedway when Round 5 of Firestone Indy Lights takes the team to corn country for the 115-lap AvoidtheStork.com 100, which is part of the IZOD IndyCar Weekend.
This is the fourth year that Firestone Indy Lights has raced at Iowa Speedway, and this weekend's race will be Yacamán's second start at the 0.875-mile oval. During his rookie year in 2009, he finished an impressive fifth. He hopes he can repeat his success this year.
"Iowa is a really tough little track, and I had a good finish last season," Yacamán said. "We had a great car in Indy (Round 4 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway) until the track got hot. Hopefully we learned something there that will apply to Iowa so we can have a better result."
Yacamán is eighth in the point standings heading into Iowa, and the team is confident in a good result.
Firestone Indy Lights first hit the track on Friday, June 18th with practice at 8:15 p.m. CT (9:15 p.m. ET). Qualifying is Saturday, June 19th at 2:25 p.m. CT (3:25 p.m. ET), and the green flag will wave on the AvoidtheStork.com at 8:45 p.m. ET (9:45 p.m. CT). Practice, qualifying and the race can be seen live on streaming video at www.indycar.com. Tickets can be purchased at www.iowaspeedway.com or by calling 641-791-8100.
The Cape Motorsports with Wayne Taylor Racing team will also be competing in the Cooper Tires Presents the USF2000 National Championship Powered by Mazda as Patrick McKenna will be racing the No. 2 machine at Iowa Speedway (Round 4). McKenna is hoping for back-to-back wins as he claimed victory three weeks ago at O'Reilly Raceway Park. The USF2000 race starts at 3:45 p.m. CT (4:45 ET) on Saturday, June 19th.
