Australian Motorsport Foundation International Rising Star, James Davison established himself as one of the leading competitors when he qualified on the front row and led the Firestone Freedom 100 staged at the famous Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

After featuring at the top of the charts in both testing and practice, Davison qualified on the front row at 188.390 mph missing out on the pole by just 0.0034 to Dillon Battistini of Panther Racing. 2005 Series Champion Wade Cunningham who had previously won at the Speedway was third.

The race which was postponed due to rain saw Battistini and Davison lead the field at the green flag until an early race caution. At the restart Davison took the lead from Battistini with the race then developing into a three way fight with Cunningham. With 10 laps remaining a second caution was called, again bunching the field. At the restart Richard Antinucci and JR Hildebrand joined the fight at the front and were involved with Davison in some spectacular three wide action into turn one. Entering turn two Hildebrand drove into the right rear of Davison resulting in a puncture, taking James out of contention. After replacing the right rear tire, Davison re-entered the race at the rear of the field eventually finishing 17th in the 27 car field.

Davison said "I established myself as a top competitor in the series this weekend. I started on the front row and led at Indy, the most important venue of them all. However I am very annoyed that my race was ended by Hildebrand. Photographic evidence of the incident on the Indy Lights website leaves no room for discussion. I must thank Sam Schmidt and the Australian Motorsport Foundation for their support in enabling me to reach this exciting stage of my career.'

Round 6 of the 2008 Firestone Indy Lights Championship, the Road Runner 100 will be held at the Milwaukee Mile this weekend 1st June.
