Rookie Guy Smith set the pace in the NTS Dream Writer/Swift Caravans Lola T97/20 in the final day of unofficial testing Wednesday for the opening round of the PPG-Dayton Indy Lights Championship at Miami-Dade Homestead Motorsports Complex this weekend. Smith, who hails from Cottingham, North Umberside in the United Kingdom, recorded a speed of 181.067 mph around the 1.5-mile speedway in Wednesday's morning session. Twenty-three of the 24 drivers participating in the two day test session bettered the track record of 174.809 mph set last year by Helio Castro-Neves. http://www.indylights.com
