DREYER & REINBOLD RACING RIGHT ON PACE DURING PRACTICE FOR THE HONDA GRAND PRIX OF ST.PETERSBURG
St. Petersburg, FL (March 25, 2011)- Today was a matter of putting the laps in and getting the car just right for tomorrow's qualifying, and that's exactly what Dreyer & Reinbold Racing accomplished today in St. Petersburg. It turned out to be a very successful day for DRR pilots Ana Beatriz (No. 24 Ipiranga), and Justin Wilson (No. 22 TranSystems) as they practiced for the IZOD IndyCar Series opener, the Honda Grand Prix of St. Petersburg.
After a successful year last year with Wilson in St. Pete, DRR wanted to make sure that they were fully ready for the weekend and today helped accomplish that goal. Both practice sessions were about dialing the car in and trying new things. The Brit clocked the 8th quickest time in practice one with a time of 1:04.7114. As the second session rolled around, the No. 22 TranSystems crew continued to make changes, but didn't quite find the right one. Luckily they are getting closer and feel like they have a path to head down for tomorrow. Wilson clocked the 11th quickest time of 1:04.135 in practice two.
It was all about laps and experience for Beatriz. Today was meant for Bia to get more track time under her belt and to try different things. The Brazilian and DRR made the necessary progress and have a good direction for tomorrow. The 26-year old was 24th fastest in the first session and 25th fastest in the second session with times of 1:07.2488 and 1:05.7036.
Dreyer & Reinbold Racing will be on track for the Honda Grand Prix of St. Petersburg in St. Petersburg, Florida on March 27th. The race telecast will air live on Sunday, March 27th at 12:30 pm (ET) on ABC. The race will air live on the IMS Radio Network, XM channel 145, and Sirius channel 211. What they have to say about the Honda Grand Prix of St. Petersburg...
Justin Wilson, No. 22 TranSystems: "It was an interesting day. It's not quite the performance we wanted. I felt that we could have been a little bit quicker than that. We haven't quite got a grip on the car and I feel like we are one change away from having a really good car. We kept trying a few different changes and I haven't found that one change yet.
Ana Beatriz, No. 24 Ipiranga: "Our goal for today was to keep improving. I know this track and I did well here in Indy Lights, the difference this time is it's in an IndyCar and it's so much faster. In each session I've just worked on getting up to speed and finding more time every session and every outing. I'm just trying to keep improving and tomorrow we will see how it goes."
