Meira Fourth-Quick in Watkins Glen First Day Practice

WATKINS GLEN, N.Y. (July 4, 2008) -- Panther Racing driver Vitor Meira posted the fourth-quickest time Friday during the first day of practice for the Camping World Grand Prix at the Glen, a race where the team's veteran driver finished second in 2006. The IndyCar Series veteran, donning a camouflage firesuit for this weekend's event, was leading at Watkins Glen International last season before he experienced a fuel pressure problem.

Vitor's top lap was 133.766 mph, 1:30.6954 seconds, trailing three-time Watkins winner Scott Dixon, Helio Castroneves and former Panther driver Dan Wheldon.

Vitor Meira, No. 4 Delphi National Guard:

"Our car is great right now. It's quick and handles well out there. Today it felt like every change the Delphi National Guard team made today was a good one. The Panther car is always good here and it looks like that will be the case again this weekend. There is still work to do before qualifications, but it's a great start to the Fourth of July weekend. I want to get a good result here for all the soldiers and our friends at Delphi who are here this weekend."
