Early contact ends Justin's race in Texas

Justin suffered an early end to his first race at Texas Motor Speedway when he brushed the wall on Lap 39, damaging his front right suspension. Starting from 23rd, Justin and the No. 02 McDonald's team made good progress in the first pit-stops and he was running in 14th when the incident occurred.

"I think the McDonald's car was pretty quick and I was pleased with the progress we were making," said Justin. "It felt like the car was sliding around a lot; it was difficult to hang on to, but we were able to move forward. I had just started to settle down and I was happy to sit there and let the race unfold. But something happened up the road and Buddy (Rice) had to check up, so I lifted off the throttle at the exit of Turn 1 and went all the way through Turn 2 with no throttle and I just couldn't get it stopped. I just ran out of road and brushed the outside wall of Turn 2."

Justin's Newman/Haas/Lanigan Racing team-mate Graham Rahal finished in 11th. Scott Dixon (Chip Ganassi Racing) won the race from Team Penske's Helio Castroneves and Ryan Briscoe. The race finished under caution after late contact between Marco Andretti (Andretti Green Racing) and Ryan Hunter-Reay (Rahal Letterman Racing).
