Dixon Third, Franchitti Fifth at Texas Motor Speedway

FORT WORTH, Texas. (June 8, 2009)-Target Chip Ganassi Racing's Dario Franchitti won the pole for the Bombardier Learjet 550k in the No.10 Energizer car and ran in the top five all night long, but the team cut it close on fuel mileage and coasted to the line in fifth place. Teammate Scott Dixon qualified third in the No.9 Target machine and finished in the same position after the 228-lap event.

While Dixon and the No.9 team held serve in the top three for most of the night, Franchitti and the Energizer team led the first 10 laps from pole position en route to their eventual top five finish.

With the results, Dixon moves from first to second in IndyCar points with 199 (-3 from leader Briscoe), while Franchitti slips from second to third in the standings with 189 (-10).

The 2009 IndyCar Series season continues June 21 with the Iowa Corn Indy 250 at Iowa Speedway. The race will be telecast live in High Definition at 1:00 p.m. (EDT) by ABC. The race will air live on the IMS Radio Network, XM channel 145 and Sirius channel 211. The radio broadcast also will be carried on www.indycar.com.

Notes:

- - Scott Dixon scored his third podium finish in the last four races.

TCGR Quoteboard:

Scott Dixon: "There was lots of green running, which is different for Texas. The Penske cars were definitely hooked up. The Target cars weren't too bad. We just need to work on it a bit."

Dario Franchitti: "It was slow. It was just slow all night. The biggest problem I had was the fuel mileage. If we would have known that that from the start, I would have done a lot better and saved fuel. I gave away a place tonight, and I hope it doesn't cost us at the end of the year."
