Indianapolis, IN - May 27, 2012 - During a record-setting day at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Alex Tagliani and his Team Barracuda - BHA crew achieved a 12th place finish in a hard-fought race.
The 96th running of the Indianapolis 500 Mile Race was the hottest on record, reaching 93 degrees, and held the highest number of lead changes, showcasing a new race leader 35 times.
Tagliani quickly drove up to the leaders from his 11th place starting position, even leading a couple laps during the first pit stop exchange, but a problem with the pit speed limiter on his second stop resulted in a drive-through penalty, which cost the rapid Canadian a lap.
"We had a great opportunity to win this race," said Tagliani. "I think we had a really fast car, but unfortunately, a couple little issues hurt us. Thank you to Honda, Barracuda Networks and Bowers & Wilkins for a great month of May. We worked really hard and we're just going to take this one as a team and move on to the next one."
Team owners Bryan Herta and Steve Newey were satisfied with the 12th place finish, all things considered. Herta added, "We're very proud of the effort from the Team Barracuda - BHA crew today. We'd like to thank Barracuda Networks, Bowers & Wilkins and all of our sponsors. We had a really great car - it ran fast all day. It's a shame we had the penalty and lost that lap early because that dictated our race, and we spent a lot of time fighting to get our lap back. Can't wait to get back on track next week in Detroit."
