St. Petersburg track activities under rain delay

Heavy rains and stormy weather are plaguing St. Petersburg right now.

A severe rainstorm has delayed Verizon IndyCar Series qualifications for the Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg. According to track officials, IndyCar qualifications have been pushed back to 5 p.m. today, weather permitting.

Should qualifications not be held, the starting line-up for Sunday’s season opener will be based on the final 2013 owner point standings.
