Six former winners highlight 34-car entry list for 99th Indianapolis 500
The 2015 edition of the Indy 500 is going to be packed with open-wheel talent from around the globe.

Six former champions of the famed 500 mile race are among the 34 slated to be here for the most iconic racing event in the world. One driver and team will be sent home following qualifying.
Only one pilot is yet to be confirmed and that is the No. 19 Dale Coyne Racing Honda, which has been raced by Francesco Dracone, up until now.

Chevrolet and Honda will each field 17 entries for the debut of their superspeedway aero kits.
Past winners
The former victors of the event are as follows... Ryan Hunter-Reay/Andretti Autosport (2014), Tony Kanaan/Chip Ganassi Racing (2013), Scott Dixon/Chip Ganassi Racing (2008) , Helio Castroneves/Team Penske (2001, 2002, 2009), Juan Pablo Montoya/Team Penske (2000), Buddy Lazier/Lazier Racing Partners (1996).
Castroneves will once again attempt to attain entry into the prestigious group of those who have conquered this race four times, a feat accomplished by A.J. Foyt, Al Unser, and Rick Mears.
In addition to the six former 500 champions, 20 IndyCar race-winners and seven series champions.
Rookies in the field
Gabby Chaves/Bryan-Herta Autosport and Stefano Coletti/KV Racing Technology will each be hoping to make their first ever start in the 500. Chavez is the reigning Indy Lights champion and winner of the race and Coletti has scored seven victories at the GP2 level.
