Carpenter Hoping to be Hard Charging from the Back in Tomorrow's Race
Sarah Fisher Racing (SFR) driver Ed Carpenter returned to the legendary Milwaukee Mile today for two final practice sessions, following by an early evening qualifying segment. After struggling to find consistency in the car throughout the weekend, Carpenter posted a two-lap average speed of 163.304 mph, in his No. 67 Direct Supply Honda powered Dallara. Carpenter will roll from the 25th starting position on race day.
The IndyCar veteran has turned 187 laps thus far this weekend in his No. 67 Direct Supply machine, with his fastest speed of 163.304 mph coming during this evening's qualifying session.
Ed Carpenter: "Our qualifying run wasn't good. We're just not having a very good weekend. It's been a discouraging one. We've been chasing the car all weekend, and it was the best it's been during my qualifying run, but we've still got a lot of work to do. It's frustrating; definitely not where we wanted to be here, especially having a local company, Direct Supply, on board and with it being an ABC race we want to perform well. We're going to have a lot of cars to pass tomorrow because we're going to be starting at the back, but that's where we are, so we'll have to deal with it."
