Roth Racing to Start 12th and 15th at Richmond

Roth racing drivers John Andretti and Marty Roth set their fastest times of the weekend during Friday qualifying and will start Saturday night's SunTrust Indy Challenge 300 in Richmond, Virginia, from the 12th and 15th spots.

Andretti went out for his run while the track was still bathed in sunshine and was sitting 5th fastest halfway through the session. But with the sun dipping behind the grandstands and the track cooling off in the shade, the 2nd half of the qualifying field had much better conditions for their attempts and Andretti ended up slipping to 12th.

JOHN ANDRETTI (#24, Roth Racing)

"Certainly handled better than a Cup car! Qualifying certainly is an experience. I like the four lap average thing. You've got to make it happen four times; you can't hold your breath for one lap and make it in. Richmond International Raceway doesn't even look the same when you're going around in an Indy car instead of a stock car. But we'll see how we race tomorrow night."

A benefactor of the improving conditions was team owner Marty Roth who was the last driver to attempt a qualifying run, and he put together a 4-lap average of 164.326 mph, his fastest laps of the weekend, and will start 3 spots behind Andretti in 15th.

MARTY ROTH (#25, Roth Racing)

"We've just been chipping away at the car all day and we made all the right moves at the end. It's always a guess when you get out here to qualify, especially with the last practice was cut short. The guys did a fabulous job, we made all the right moves and it's good to have a race car."

(On having John Andretti as a team mate)

"John's always a great target to go after and he's certainly one of the fast guys. It's kind of funny because we start out the weekend with the same set up and end up going in different directions, but it's great having a team mate of his caliber."
