Oriol Servia finished 15th in the 2013 Honda Indy Grand Prix of Alabama in the No. 22 Charter Panther DRR Chevrolet.
Servia started the Honda Indy Grand Prix of Alabama in the 18th position after yesterday's qualifications for the Verizon P1 Award.
In Turn 7 of Lap 1, Servia was hit from behind and spun off course. The beam wing was torn off the rear of the car and damage to the front of the car required a change to a new nose. Fast work by the crew kept the No. 22 on the lead lap.
Routine pit stops for the No. 22 followed under green flag conditions on Lap 16, 40, and 66. Turns of front wing were the only changes made to the car.
On the final lap, Servia was passed by Takuma Sato but was able to pass Graham Rahal and Sebastian Bourdais to end the race in 15th.
The 2013 Honda Indy Grand Prix of Alabama featured 90 laps around the 2.38 mile, 17-turn natural terrain road course of Barber Motorsports Park outside of Birmingham.
Panther DRR will return to the track April 19-21 for the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach in Long Beach, California. The No. 22 will continue to carry the Charter Communications livery.
Oriol Servia, No.22 Charter Panther DRR Chevrolet: "That was a disappointing race. On the first lap, I was involved in the first crash. I got hit from behind and I hit Hinch, which I'm sorry for. I saw three cars abreast in front of me and I tried to take it easy, maybe Graham [Rahal] didn't see it and we all just ran into them.
It was a bad start and it's hard to come back from last. We had a decent car, but I had the rear bumper ripped off in that first crash so the car was not behaving at it's best. We did what we could, we were never as fast as the top five cars, but we definitely as good as those running 6th, 7th, and 8th. If we would have been able to jump up front, we would have been able to stay there."
