Formula Dodge standout Bryan Sellers tested a Newman/Haas Racing Lola Champ Car at Sebring International Raceway today, as part of his reward for winning this year's Formula Ford 2000 Zetec Championship. The 2000 National Championship runner-up began his first-ever test in a CART car with some installation laps on wet tires in Newman/Haas' 2002 Toyota-powered Lola, running on Sebring's 1.6-mile modified course.
"It was everything I expected and more," said Sellers. "The acceleration in these cars is like nothing you imagined!"
Later in the day, Sellers went back out on slicks completing several long runs without incident.
"You really notice how responsive the car is on slick tires," said Sellers. "I had some problems downshifting, which I know cost me a bunch of time, but I'm very happy with my first day in a CART car. Now I just want to do more!"
"Bryan did an excellent job," said Newman/Haas senior engineer Peter Gibbons. "I'm extremely happy with how the test has gone thus far."
