Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach
Streets of Long Beach, Calif.
April 18-20, 2008

Race Details: Timed event - 1 hour, 45 minutes. Track distance is 1.968 miles (3.167 kilometers).

Television/Radio Broadcast: Sunday, April 20, at 5:30 p.m. EDT on ESPN2; 4 p.m. EDT on IMS Radio Network and XM Radio 145.

Bridgestone Potenza Tires Supplied:

* Primary (black-sidewall) dry-condition slicks: 626, each car gets six sets.

* Alternate (red-sidewall) dry-condition slicks: 437, each car gets three sets.

* Wet-condition (rain) tires: 340 with tread pattern, each car gets four sets.

* In a normal dry-condition race, each car must use one set of primary and one set of alternate Potenza race tires. In a new rule for this race, teams are required to save one set of the alternate tires, so that an unused set will be used during the race. The primary and alternate tires for this event are different than those used here in 2007. The primary tire compound is one step "harder" than the prime used in Long Beach last year, while the alternate tire compound is "softer" than last year's spec.

From Al Speyer, Executive Director, Bridgestone Motorsport: "This weekend is certainly going to be a bittersweet one for Bridgestone Motorsport. While we will be saying farewell to the Champ Car World Series, we will also be welcoming back some familiar faces and long-time Bridgestone supporters who are hopping into cars to send the series off in style. Seeing 20 Champ Cars on track for the series' final event will be a special moment. Bridgestone has enjoyed many successful years at Long Beach, first with CART and then with Champ Car. From our perspective, we are thrilled to be continuing that tradition for 2008 and beyond with the IndyCar Series. You can rest assured that we won't miss a beat at the Beach! As for this year's tire supply, we are implementing some new rules and specifications that will enhance the on-track competition. We have widened the gap between our primary and alternate tires and are requiring teams to employ one unused set of alternates during the race, which is essentially like adding a third compound into the mix. Tire strategy and more cars should lead to lots of on-track excitement, which will provide a fitting tribute to the Champ Car World Series."
