HOWARD'S DAY ENDS EARLY AT MID OHIO
Jay Howard Finishes 24th in Today's Race

LEXINGTON, OH. (August 8, 2010)- It was a gorgeous day, bearing a nice breeze in Mid Ohio, as Howard raced his No. 66 Service Central Honda powered Dallara through the rolling hills of the 13-turn, 2.25-mile permanent road course. Sarah Fisher Racing's (SFR) Jay Howard finished in the 24th position in the Honda Indy 200 at Mid Ohio Sports Car Course, after a challenging day on the circuit. Howard started the race in the 26th position and had managed to make his way up to 21st when he was hit from behind on lap 38.

The race day started with a morning practice session for all drivers. Howard posted a time of 01:12.44, good enough for 25th place on the speed charts. Team Penske's Will Power was fastest during the morning session, clocking a time of 01:07.99.

"We had actually made some improvements to the car for the race, and I was trying pretty hard out there," said Howard. "The car wasn't great, but we were able to stay where we were and I feel like I could've moved forward, maybe three or four places. I don't know what JR was thinking. He was obviously a bit anxious with it being his first time in the car and he just drove straight into the back of me. I didn't know anything about it until I was going backwards."

This was the fourth race on the timing stand for team owner Sarah Fisher, who will be back behind the wheel of her No. 67 Dollar General machine at Chicagoland Speedway on August 28.

"The team did a great job of keeping their heads up and trying to give their best effort the entire weekend," said Fisher. "We made progress, and I was happy to see the seconds come off of our times as Jay got more comfortable in the car; however, we did not end strong today, but without any damage to the car we will be fully prepared for Chicago."

Target Chip Ganassi Racing's Dario Franchitti took the checkered flag, followed closely by Team Penske's Will Power.

The IZOD IndyCar ® Series returns for the Indy Grand Prix of Sonoma on August 22, which will be the 13th race of the 17-race 2010 IZOD IndyCar Series season.
