Lotus HVM Racing Ready for Itaipava Sao Paulo Indy 300
Sao Paulo, Brazil (April 27, 2012) - Lotus HVM Racing and the #78 Nuclear Clean Air Energy car arrived in Sao Paulo, Brazil yesterday morning. Driver Simona De Silvestro has historically done well on this circuit and looks to use that knowledge to score her season best finish of the season. Having led laps here in her first race in 2010 as well as setting the fastest lap of the race in 2011, De Silvestro considers the 2.6-mile temporary street course as one of her favorite stops of the IZOD IndyCar season.
"I'm excited to be in Brazil this weekend", De Silvestro said. "I really enjoy the track. I think it suits my driving style a lot and since it's supposed to rain that should be good for us too. The team has been working really hard and I think we have a chance for a good result. It should be fun."
De Silvestro isn't the only one happy to be back in Brazil. "I'm definitely happy to be back in Brazil," said team owner Keith Wiggins. "It's one of my favorite places. We've had some good performances here and Simona certainly has had the pace here for the last couple of years. We're looking forward to being able to deliver that into a decent result as we continue to work on our project with our partners at Lotus."
Technical Director Tom Brown thinks De Silvestro has a good shot at a strong finish this weekend. "She drove a great race at Long Beach," he said. "We take that momentum, that excitement we had and even though we had an issue at the end and couldn't finish, she was quick where she needed to be quick. We had no practice and only 3 or 4 laps in qualifying but come to the race and she was right on it. We'll take that enthusiasm and drive into this race. She loves this place, so it'll be good."
