KVSH vows to "rise from the ashes" in Phoenix

The KVSH team has confirmed that the transporter carrying Sebastien Bourdais' racecar was damaged by a fire barely 25 miles from the end of its 1450-mile trip from Indianapolis to Phoenix.

A team release stated that the fire was confined to the rear axle area of the transporter, which was said to have "sustained substantial damage". The contents of the truck, however, survived unscathed.

The release went on to praise the response and promptness of the team members driving the transporter, their counterparts in rival teams, and the local fire and police departments.

Steve Moore, general manager for KVSH, stated: “First and foremost, the good news is that both of our team members, John Phil Davis and Eric “Stu” Stewart, were uninjured.

"Secondarily, the cars and equipment are undamaged. We are very fortunate to have two highly skilled and experienced transportation professionals who took quick and decisive action. Without them this situation could have been a lot worse.

"KVSH Racing would also like to thank the members of other teams and local Fire and Police responders for their assistance.”
