FISHER CLIMBS 10 POSITIONS TO FINISH 12TH AT KENTUCKY SPEEDWAY
SFR's Fisher Jumps From 22nd To Make Her Best Finish Of The 2009 Season
SPARTA, KY Aug 01, 2009 Sarah Fisher, of Sarah Fisher Racing (SFR), advanced 10 positions at Kentucky Speedway to finish 12th in her Dollar General Honda. She started from the 22nd position, due to qualifications being cancelled because of complications with the weather.
"I'm really proud of my team," said Fisher, who was most affected by the cancellation as she is not running a complete schedule and was unable to acquire the points needed to start from the front of the field. "Our small team has come a long way. I think my first win was taken from me tonight because we didn't qualify. Starting from the rear of the field and running times as quick as the Top 10, it gives us something to celebrate. It really shows how strong this team has become."
While hosting 102 guests of her team, Fisher rolled her No. 67 machine from Row 11 under the bursting fireworks at Kentucky Speedway on Saturday evening. Fisher ran as high as 11th, on Lap 154, while proclaiming, "This is the best car I've ever had here; so lets get it done!"
Fisher rolled into the pits for her first pit stop on Lap 44 to adjust her front wing, get four new tires and a full tank of fuel only to fall down a lap, which she gained back on Lap 118. This gave Fisher the opportunity to contend with the leaders and stay in the hunt, while they returned to their pits.
SFR, Fisher and Dollar General return to the racetrack at ChicagoLand Speedway on August 29, 2009, at 9:00 p.m. EDT on VERSUS.
