Justin qualifies 16th for Kentucky Indy 300

03-September-2010 - After a frustrating, rain-interrupted morning practice session at Kentucky Speedway, the sun came out on Friday afternoon and Justin qualified the No. 22 Z-Line Designs car in 16th with a two-lap average speed of 215.944 mph. Ed Carpenter took a surprise pole position for Panther Racing (217.933 mph), narrowly pipping Will Power (Team Penske, 217.829 mph). Justin's Dreyer & Reinbold team-mate, Paul Tracy, will start from 23rd in the No. 24 Motegi Racing Wheels entry (214.270 mph).

Last weekend Justin started from 23rd at Chicagoland Speedway, but a quick race car allowed him to work through the field to finish a satisfied 7th. He's hopeful that further work on set-up in final practice this evening will give him the extra pace needed for a similar result tomorrow night.

"It's been a reasonable day so far," said Justin. "The Z-Line Designs car feels pretty quick, but I don't feel like I've got a lot of grip. I've been sliding around a lot out there so I couldn't run any tighter in qualifying. Starting 16th isn't too bad, but we need to find a better mechanical balance which will make the car more predictable and allow us to take a bit more downforce off for the race. We've got another session this evening and I think if we can figure that out we can be quick in the race and get another great result for Z-Line Designs."
