Justin looking for strong run at Kentucky Speedway

Round 14 of the 18-race IndyCar series is held at Kentucky Speedway this weekend on a 1.5 mile oval circuit where Justin will be turning left for a total of 200 laps.

After crashing at last week's test at the same venue, Justin is looking to quickly restore his confidence in this weekend's Meijer Indy 300. At the test, Justin was driving his new car because Newman/Haas/Lanigan Racing team-mate Graham Rahal had borrowed the older chassis as his own car was in the workshop, following crash damage at Edmonton. Near the end of the first test run, it is thought that a part on the new car failed and the resultant damage has made it a write-off. The good news is that barring a few aches and pains, Justin is fit and well and raring to get the 02 McDonald's car back on track.

Commenting on all this, Justin said: "Going back to the place where I just crashed a week ago is something I have never had to deal with before on an oval. I'm sure we will get back up to speed pretty soon and I'll gain my confidence back. We'll push it to the limit and see what the McDonald's car is capable of. We're going back to a couple of 1.5 mile ovals and hopefully we can pick up where we left off, and continue to learn how to make the car faster. We are working hard to close the gap to the rest of the field but it's too much ground to make up in one season."

With a seventh place finish on the ovals at Milwaukee and Richmond, Justin is looking for another top-10 result this weekend. "The key to a strong finish is to have a good race car," he said, "I think we will still struggle in qualifying but hopefully we will have a good car and stay out of trouble in the race. We have found that the new chassis are faster and Graham confirmed this last week when he was using my older one for the test. I will give it my best shot even though I'm back in the old car".
