Justin disappointed with Texas qualifying
Justin qualified 27th for the first of Saturday night’s Firestone Twin 275s at Texas Motor Speedway, posting a 2-lap qualifying average speed of 211.762 mph in the No. 22 Z-Line Designs car. His Dreyer & Reinbold Racing team-mates Ana Beatriz (No. 24 Ipiranga) and Davey Hamilton (No. 11 HP) will start from 24th and 18th respectively. Alex Tagliani took pole position for Sam Schmidt Motorsports (215.186 mph).
After running 10th in the first practice session, the lack of pace in qualifying came as a surprise, but the clear focus is on finding a good set-up for the two races.
"I'm a little bit disappointed,” said Justin. “I'm not sure what happened to the speed - we were hoping to be quicker than that. We were good earlier when we were in race trim and it seemed like we were a bit quicker, so hopefully we can come back through. If there was ever a track where qualifying doesn't really matter, it's Texas."
In the Friday night’s final practice session, held after qualifying, the No. 22 car posted the 11th quickest time in the session as teams focused on race set-up.
