Fresh from a strong run to 7th place in Sunday’s Indianapolis 500, Justin and Dale Coyne Racing have had a busy week. Justin attended the post-race awards celebration on Monday night before testing at the Milwaukee Mile on Tuesday and he and the team are now in Detroit as they prepare for this Sunday’s Chevrolet Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix.

The 2.07-mile street course runs through the scenic Belle Isle Park, located in the Detroit River between the United States and Canada. The IZOD IndyCar Series made its last Motor City appearance in 2008 when Justin won at Belle Isle for Newman/Haas/Lanigan Racing.

“I love racing in Detroit and I think Belle Isle is a fantastic venue,” said Justin. “It’s a bumpy track and you get shaken around a lot, so it’s definitely a work-out. I really enjoyed getting that win for Newman/Haas/Lanigan Racing. I just remember how good my car was that day and the grip I had; it was just a case of trying to use it all. Everything came together and we just had one of those perfect races. Standing on the podium and having my family there was a special moment. So I’ve got a lot of good memories and can’t wait to get back on track in the Sonny’s Bar-B-Q Honda. Hopefully we can repeat it this weekend.”
