"Basically, we got a car from Pagan Racing that we're going to run" said John Della Penna. "We're going to put our own engine in it and some of our own suspension pieces. We have to guarantee that we'll bring it back in the same condition we left it."

9:50 a.m. Salazar is in stable condition, "had a good night" and is recovering from surgery according to hospital spokesperson Shannon Hage.

Interested spectators at today's race: Humpy Wheeler, Bruton Smith, Gordon Johncock, Donald Trump and Marla Maples.

In the post race press conference, Jack Long said to look for two races to be added to next year's IRL schedule. When asked about the Indy 500 field, Long said that there would be no problem with finding 33 drivers. Long said that the problem would be to find the cars and engine combinations. Tony George added "We've got a lot of work to do to silence our critics".
