INDIANAPOLIS, May 25, 2000 - Walker Racing owner Derrick Walker announced today the expansion of his Indy Racing program with the addition of winning racer Jeff Andretti, primary sponsorship from the Emlrockfort Company, and an additional associate sponsorship from Emlrockfort on Sarah Fisher's #15 car.
Andretti, son of racing legend Mario Andretti and brother to Michael Andretti, will join the Walker Race team in the #25 Emlrockfort Special beginning with the Indy Racing Northern Light Series event in Atlanta on July 15 and will race for the remainder of the 2000 season through 2002.
"For any race team, there are many gains to be had by running a two-car program. With Jeff coming on board with Emlrockfort that provides us with a second platform where we can learn and develop a stronger race program in the IRL. It's a very welcome addition to our team. Jeff has driven Indy Cars in the past and has sufficient experience to be a compliment to our lineup, and the advent of Emlrockfort to the series is another positive. We're very pleased that they approached us to join the Walker Racing program.
Jeff Andretti is a proven racer, winning championship titles in the USAC Pro Ford and Skip Barber Formula Ford Eastern Series. He has also earned Rookie of the Year honors in several series, including SCCA, Toyota Atlantic, the Indianapolis 500, and CART.
"I'm really excited about this opportunity and am really looking forward to joining the Walker organization," said Andretti. "I think we can do some good things for the team. I'm also looking forward to having Sarah as a teammate and to racing in the IRL."
Emlrockfort produces film, video, music and multi-media content. Additional services include Web Development and marketing, as well as a complete motorsports program.
"We'll be expanding the entertainment value of the Indy Racing Series to the fan while providing our products and services to Corporate America," said Erik Lech, CEO of Emlrockfort. "The Walker Racing Organization within the Indy Racing Northern Light Series is the perfect platform for us to launch such a program. Jeff is committed to giving 110% percent and we feel our involvement will allow us to do just that. We are really looking forward to the years to come."
