The United States Auto Club is indeed saddened to learn of the death of Pat Flaherty, 76, winner of the 1956 Indianapolis 500, the first under USAC sanction, who passed away last night in Oxnard, Calif. after battling emphysema for several years.

We extend our sympathies to Pat's family, friends and associates.

Visitation is planned Friday, April 12 at James A Reardon Mortuary, 511 N. A Street, Oxnard, Calif. Services are to be conducted at Santa Clara Catholic Church, 323 S. E Street, Oxnard on Saturday, April 13 with burial to follow at Santa Clara Catholic Cemetery, 2370 N. H Street, Oxnard. Times are still being finalized at the time of this release.
