TRUSCELLI TEAM TO RUN TYLER AT ORLANDO OPENER LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla., Jan. 20, 1999 - Truscelli Team Racing announced they have reached a one-race agreement with Brian Tyler to run Sunday's TransWorld Diversified Services Indy 200 in place of team driver Greg Gorden.

Tyler, the 1996-97 USAC sprint car national champion, competed in nine Indy Racing League events in 1998. His best finish was sixth at the Las Vegas 500K with Team Pelfrey. Team owner Joe Truscelli and Indy Racing League Director of Racing Operations Brian Barnhart agreed that Tyler should start in place of rookie Gorden because Gorden has little seat time in the team's new G Force chassis. The Truscelli team planned to test at Walt Disney World Speedway but did not receive its G Force until just days before the scheduled test. "We are really happy with Greg Gorden," said Truscelli. "He's a very talented driver. It was unfair to Greg that we weren't able to give him more seat time. We will test at Phoenix three times, so the entire team will be ready for the next race. I appreciate Greg's attitude. He will be here at Disney helping us all weekend. That says a lot for his character." Barnhart noted that the team's professionalism in the face of a tough decision was impressive.

"They understand that safety takes priority, and this is the best thing for Greg and the IRL," he said. "We're looking forward to the full team's participation at Phoenix." Gorden passed his Pep Boys Indy Racing League rookie test in October 1998 at Pikes Peak International Raceway.
