INDIANAPOLIS, Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2000 - Tri Star Motorsports filed entries Feb. 23 for Indianapolis 500 veterans Jeret Schroeder and Jack Miller for the 84th running of the "Greatest Spectacle in Racing" on May 28. Schroeder, from Vineland, N.J., will attempt to make his second start at Indy in the #6 Armour Swift Ekrich-Tristarmall.com Dallara/Oldsmobile/Firestone. He finished 15th as a rookie last year in the Indianapolis 500 in a car fielded by Cobb Racing. Tri Star also entered an identical backup machine for Schroeder, the team's full-time driver in the Northern Light Indy Racing Series. Derrick Stephan is the chief mechanic, while team co-owner Larry Curry is the manager. Miller, from Westfield, Ind., will attempt to make his fourth consecutive and career Indy start in the #21 Milk Chug-Opalescence-Century 21-Tristarmall.com Dallara/Oldsmobile/Firestone. His best Indy finish is 20th as a rookie in 1997. The team has fielded an identical backup car for Miller. Stephan and Curry also will be the chief mechanic and manager, respectively, for Miller's entry. Tri Star is co-owned by Curry, 1996-97 Indy Racing League champion Tony Stewart, Indianapolis businessman Andy Card and Florida businessman Rick Ehrgott. The team was formed in January 1999. Stewart and Miller drove for Tri Star in the 1999 Indianapolis 500, with Stewart finishing ninth and Miller 31st. The entry deadline is midnight April 12. All entrants will compete for one of the 33 starting spots in the world's richest and most prestigious auto race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The posted purse for last year's event was $9,047,150, an all-time motorsports record.
