Treadway Racing Sends Prayers to Those Afflicted in Charlotte Tragedy

Charlotte, NC: Treadway Racing extends its sincerest condolences, thoughts and prayers to the families of those who were lost and those injured in the tragedy at the VisionAire 500 Saturday night at the Lowe's Motor Speedway.

Fred Treadway-Team Owner: "Those of us involved in the Indy Racing League are all greatly saddened by this weekend's loss and send condolences to all involved. The Lowe's Motor Speedway is a wonderful facility with a fantastic staff, and we support "Humpy" Wheeler's decision to cancel the race in the wake of this misfortune."

Sam Schmidt-Driver: "This is such a tragic loss of life. Our thoughts and prayers are with not only those involved and their families, but also all of the track personnel, the IRL and all of the associated teams and crew members. We consider everyone at the races to be part of our family, and it's a very personal loss for all of us."

Dan Wilinsky-PR Director for Sprint PCS: "We are sad to see such a great event end so tragically, and we echo the sentiments of those whose thoughts are with the families of those who perished Saturday evening. We are going to continue to support the IRL as we feel it is a great sport and are proud to be involved with a team. But it is a risky sport, and we saw that demonstrated this weekend."

Arie Luyendyk--Driver: "I consider the fans part of our racing family and see them right up there with our mechanics, crews and officials. One of ours has perished and it is a terrible tragedy. We can race another day."
