INDIANAPOLIS, Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2000 - A statement from Indy Racing League President and Chief Executive Officer Tony George on the announcement today by General Motors to phase out its Oldsmobile division:

"General Motors Corporation has communicated to us its commitment to the long-term growth of open wheel racing through GM's involvement in the Indy Racing League and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway."
