USAC has issued a revised final standing today for the TrueValue 500, after a protest by Treadway Racing that their cars had been mis-scored during the race and that two laps completed by their drivers had not been counted. After review, the USAC officials, who were responsible for the timing and scoring at last night's race, admitted that the scoring system had failed to record laps completed by several drivers, and that Arie Luyendyk had actually completed 210 laps instead of 208. The changes were made in accordance with the standings when Luyendyk completed his 208th lap, which should have been the end of the race.

Only the top ten finishers were affected by these changes, and the affected teams have until Thursday, June 12th to file a protest, which they are sure to do. The official revised final order is as follows:

     1) 5 Arie Luyendyk
     2) 1 Billy Boat
     3) 14 Davey Hamilton
     4) 6 Scott Goodyear
     5) 2 Tony Stewart
     6) 51 Eddie Cheever, Jr.
     7) 7 Eliseo Salazar
     8) 97 Greg Ray
     9) 8 Vicenzo Sospiri
    10) 10 Johnny Unser

These changes have unfortunately dropped Johnny from 8th to 10th position, but he remains the highest finishing Infiniti powered driver. Engine builder Ed Pink said today that he expects the Infiniti motors that will be available for the Colorado 200 will have significantly more horsepower than the current engines, and even more horsepower by the race in Charlotte at the end of July. This is good news for the Infiniti teams, and we hope that it will put them on a more even basis with the Aurora teams.

We will continue to keep you updated throughout the week if anything changes in the final standings. Thank you again for your support.
