Kanaan, Team 7-Eleven Qualify 10th at Texas Motor Speedway

FORT WORTH, Texas (Oct. 15, 2004) - Team 7-Eleven driver Tony Kanaan will start Sunday's Texas 500 from the 10th starting position after posting a lap of 213.105 miles per hour (24.5794 seconds) during qualifying today at Texas Motor Speedway.

Kanaan, who captured the Indy Racing League® IndyCar® Series title two weeks ago at California Speedway, will be looking to run his series-record string of consecutive top-five finishes to 15 during Sunday's race.

The Texas 500, the final event of the 2004 IndyCar Series schedule, is set to go green at 12:55 p.m. (EDT) Sunday with ABC providing live broadcast coverage of the 200-lap event beginning at 12:30 p.m. (EDT).

Tony Kanaan, #11 Team 7-Eleven Dallara/Honda/Firestone:

"I had an okay qualifying lap. During practice, I didn't work on qualifying at all; I was working on my race setup. We know that we have no problem taking the Team 7-Eleven car from the back to the front, so wherever we start from, we'll be running up front, for sure. I know that we have a very great race car and, between the four of us, the entire team looks pretty strong for Sunday's race. I just really want to see my teammates, Dan and Dario, finish second and fifth in the championship."
