Each car receives nine sets (36 total tires) for the race weekend to use as its team decides in practice, qualifying and the race. The tire stagger available this weekend equates to approximately 0.45 of an inch diameter difference between the left and right rear tires.

The race-proven Firehawk tire specification is new to Texas for 2007, but it has already seen race action on the 1.5-mile tracks at Homestead-Miami Speedway and Kansas Speedway. The spec features a superspeedway tire construction to absorb the tremendous loading the tires take on the high-banked ovals, in conjunction with a tread compound featuring improved grip from a year ago.

From Al Speyer, Executive Director, Firestone Racing: "Whenever people talk about the IndyCar Series races at Texas Motor Speedway, without fail they mention nail-biting, tire-to-tire action for the entire race and unbelievably close finishes. Now that the race has been extended by 50 kilometers, that frantic, pulsating pace should reach even greater heights. Those of us at Firestone Racing take comfort in the fact that it's because of the unflinching confidence these drivers have in their Firehawk race tires that they're willing to race each other so hard, so close and for so long. The Firestone tires they'll be using this weekend have already proven themselves on other taxing 1.5-mile ovals this season. We have every confidence they will be up to the task yet again and lend drivers the bravado to put on another sensational show deep in the heart of Texas."

Firestone Performance Award: This $10,000 prize commemorates Firestone's status as the only tire manufacturer to have participated in every IndyCar Series race. It is given to the driver leading the lap number corresponding to the cumulative number of races in series history. The Bombardier Learjet 550k is the 141st IndyCar Series race, so the Firestone Performance Award will go to the driver who leads lap 141.

Race Distance: 342 miles/550.4 km (228 laps on the 1.5-mile/2.41-km oval).

Firestone Firehawk Race Tires Supplied: 888 dry-condition slicks.
