Franchitti Qualifies Sixth in ArcaEx Car at Texas

FORT WORTH, Texas (June 9, 2005) - Dario Franchitti recorded a lap of 212.034 miles per hour (24.7036 seconds) in the #27 ArcaEx Dallara/Honda/Firestone during qualifying at the 1.5-mile Texas Motor Speedway and will start from the sixth position for Saturday's running of the Indy Racing League® IndyCar® Series Bombardier Learjet 500.

The sixth event of the 2005 IndyCar Series season is set to go green at 8:50 p.m. (EDT) Saturday with ESPN providing broadcast coverage of the 200-lap event beginning at 8:30 p.m. (EDT).

Dario Franchitti, #27 ArcaEx Dallara/Honda/Firestone:

"I think I got what was available from the ArcaEx car. At this point in qualifying there is only so much the driver can do. It's pretty clear that we didn't have our qualifying car quick enough today. We've still got some work to do on the race car but we must remember that we're going to race in these late conditions and not what we saw during practice this afternoon. We'll get a pretty good idea of what kind of race car we'll have during Friday's evening warm-up session, but I think we'll be pretty decent."

Kanaan To Start 13th at Texas Motor Speedway

Team 7-Eleven driver Tony Kanaan recorded a lap of 210.838 miles per hour (24.8437 seconds) during qualifying at the 1.5 mile Texas Motor Speedway and will start from the 13th position for Saturday night's running of the Indy Racing League® IndyCar® Series Bombardier Learjet 500.

The sixth event of the 2005 IndyCar Series season is set to go green at 8:50 p.m. (EDT) Saturday with ESPN providing broadcast coverage of the 200-lap event at 8:30 p.m. (EDT).

Tony Kanaan, #11 Team 7-Eleven Dallara/Honda/Firestone:

"I would love to have qualified a little better than I did; I don't really know what happened. Team 7-Eleven has been very successful at this place and, apart from last year, I've never really started from the front. I know we have a good race car, but I have no clue what happened during our qualifying effort."

Wheldon Qualifies Eighth At Texas In Klein Tools/Jim Beam Car

Dan Wheldon, driver of the #26 Klein Tools/Jim Beam car, qualified eighth today with a best-lap speed of 211.718 miles per hour (24.7405 seconds) for Saturday's running of the Bombardier Learjet 500, the sixth race on the Indy Racing League® IndyCar® Series schedule.

The 200-lap race goes green on Saturday at 8:50 p.m. (EDT) with ESPN providing live coverage of the event beginning at 8:30 p.m. (EDT).

Dan Wheldon, #26 Klein Tools/Jim Beam Dallara/Honda/Firestone:

"The Klein Tools/Jim Beam team never seems to qualify particularly well on the super speedways. It's something that we just haven't gotten worked out yet. But, in the race we seem to always have very good cars, can get to the front and work well in traffic, and I expect nothing different this Saturday night."

Herta Qualifies 11TH At Texas In XM Satellite Radio Car

Bryan Herta, driver of the #7 XM Satellite Radio car, qualified 11th with a best-lap speed of 211.278 miles per hour (24.7920 seconds) for Saturday's running of the Bombardier Learjet 500 at Texas Motor Speedway.

The 200-lap event is set to go green Saturday at 8:50 p.m. (EDT) with ESPN providing live coverage of the event beginning at 8:30 p.m. (EDT). The sixth of 17 races on the 2005 Indy Racing League® IndyCar® Series schedule and can be heard live by XM Satellite Radio subscribers on Extreme XM, channel 152.

Bryan Herta, #7 XM Satellite Radio Dallara/Honda/Firestone:

"It looks like we're going to have another one of those races where we have to work through from the middle of the field again. It was a struggle to get the kind of speed that we wanted out of the XM Satellite Radio car today. When we get the car in race trim, it races great, but it doesn't seem to want to qualify."
