Indianapolis, IN ­ July 9, 2002 - Tom Kelley, owner of Indianapolis based Kelley Racing, has issued the following statement regarding the pending investigation of the July 9, 2002 arrest of Al Unser, Jr. in Marion County, Indiana.

"Al has the unqualified support of everyone at Kelley Racing and our sponsors. Since joining Kelley Racing, Al has been a phenomenal employee and a true asset to our organization. He is a leader and works continuously to motivate everyone involved with our race teams. We are here to support him in any way we can.

Everyone at Kelley Racing is not only his teammate, but his friend and extended family as well. We have received countless messages from other members of the racing fraternity stating their support for Al and sending their best wishes.

We are looking forward to Al competing at the upcoming Nashville event and the remainder of the 2002 season. He is focused on his racing and the job he has to do for Kelley Racing and their sponsors.

The matter is currently under investigation by the Marion County Prosecutor's office. No charges have been filed at this time. Al has retained James H. Voyles to represent him regarding this personal matter."

At the advise of counsel, Al Unser, Jr., does not have a comment at this time.
